China increases share of electricity from clean energy to 20.2%

Climate Connect News, 26 December 2012, London: China has increased the share of electricity generated from clean energy sources to 20.2%, reported Xinhua, in an effort to reduce its reliance on fossil based energy generation. According to China State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC), there was an increase of 20.3% in electricity generated from clean energy source, relative to 2011.

In the first eleven months of 2012, 877 billion kWh of electricity was generated from non-fossil based sources. Country’s clean energy power generation was 74.8 billion kWh in November; but a decrease in clean energy generation as compared to October, 2012.....
