India targets 485 GW renewable energy capacity by 2050

Climate Connect News, 04 July 2014, New Delhi: India is planning to aggressively increase its investment into renewable energy infrastructure as it plans to achieve an installed renewable energy capacity base of 485 GW by 2050, a report by the Power Grid Corporation of India has stated. 

According to the report, a massive 1,388 GW of power generation capacity would be required in India to meet the power demand in 2050. India’s current installed generation capacity is almost 250 GW, including almost 32 GW of renewable energy capacity. ....
