Less than 30% of India’s solar module production capacity operational

Climate Connect News, 05 June 2014, New Delhi: Solar cell and module manufacturers in India are struggling to remain afloat as which has led to the government contemplating implementing anti-dumping duties on imported modules. The true condition of the manufacturers has been revealed in the production data released recently by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. 

According to the data complied by the ministry, India has an installed capacity to produce just over 1,200 MW of solar cells. This capacity is spread across 13 companies led by Indosolar Limited (450 MW), Moser Baer (250 MW), Tata Solar (180 MW) and Websol Energy System Limited (120 MW).
